revived!!

Who can comprehend the measure of the Father’s Love?
When I am down, disappointed with the world, He spoke in His loveliest tone that He cares for me. He assures me that He is in control of my life and despite all these sad circumstances I am in, He will see me through!
How good it is to be reminded of God’s faithfulness! And that when I trust God, I will not be disappointed! I shall take heart, be strong and hopeful of things. I shall look to Him, who is the Author and Perfecter of my faith rather than to focus on these circumstances. “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful, he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear”- 1 Corinthians 10: 13.

I am glad these words came in the right time to heal my embittered heart.
My spirits were lifted - I no longer dwell sadly on this, my peace is restored. A little wiser too, albeit the heart-wrenching experience!
I ‘ve renewed my trust in God and walk daily with renewed strength and purpose.
I shall not be defeated with this, but work on living a victorious life.
I shall change my attitude and perspective on things. After all, the Lord knows the plans He has for me, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

How great is our God!

cheated.....

I am so depressed.... beyond words.
I just got my target and sales commission calculation, and it was not what was promised!!! How can the company reduce our % sales commission without negotiating with us earlier? How can they do this after the first quarter has closed? how can I deal with this injustice?
After working so hard for the first quarter, I really felt CHEATED and MANIPULATED.
I am speechless. I am in no mood to work anymore....
what's the hardwork for?
Why did I sacrifice my late nights for a bunch of thieves?
Why did I have to undergo so much stress for these people who don't appreciate the hard work?

No mood, no mood.....really, .... attitude changes everything......

sunset

I was just going through some pictures in my mobile phone and found this. Almost forgotten about this beautiful shot.

We took this in Mauritius, after dinner in the hotel. I didn't think that hubby was a romantic at heart, so when he suggested watching the sunset together after dinner, I was truly surprised, thrilled and thought it was such an awesome thing to do! After watching the sunset, we then took such a nice stroll along the beach. That was one of the most memorable and precious time we've shared together.

As to the picture, well, we didn't have our usual camera with us, so the phone had to do the job :)

some more on mauritius

I found some “strange and new” experiences, too. In Mauritius, apparently water is not served for free during dinner in the hotel. Not even coffee or tea. The food was on buffet style, but beverage? Too bad, you’ve got to pay for that. A 500ml of mineral water goes for 3 Euros. Better yet, get a bottle of wine. That’s what they encourage you to take with your dinner.

Nothing beats our 3 minutes experience of buying mineral water at the stall by the roadside. The old lady told us that the 1 litre bottle was 17 Mauritius Rupees. Then we asked her daughter who stood next to her, she said it was 16 Rupees. When we hesitated (actually, counting how much money we have), the old lady chirped that it’s 15 Rupees. Finally, we bought it at 14 Rupees. Till today, I am still puzzled, how much was the mineral water supposed to cost?

Something that breeds familiarity was the traffic jam. At 5.30pm, we were stuck in the heavy traffic heading towards Port Louis (the capital). We were literally in the bus, not moving for 20 minutes or so, and then painfully inched our way through for the next hour. It was certainly not what I have hoped for… cause I ended feeling more stressed. It’s deja-vu, you know, the usual, 3 lanes – to 2 lanes thingy, “bottle-neck” effect everywhere often seen back home in KL.

And finally, our send off was a real treat! To beat the horrendous traffic, our tour bus driver, took to the outskirts to reach the airport. (outskirts meaning, cutting through the sugar cane plantations). The roads were narrow and winding, we were climbing hills one second, then racing down the valleys, the next. The entire journey was full of sudden jerks, turns, swirling around sugar canes – we (hubby and I and another 2 couples) all turned green and sick to our stomach! After an hour and 45 minutes, but to what seems like eternity to us, we reached the airport. Without a single word, the driver unloaded our bags and sped off! What did you make of that? I wonder….

more on Mauritius

Here are a couple of places we went to see in Mauritius. It’s such a pleasant experience getting to see not only the infamous beaches, but the “other” side of the island as well.

One bummer though: we brought along the wrong currency! We checked with the tour agency (and the website), and were made to understand that US Dollars is widely accepted in Mauritius. However, when we got there, to our surprise, they preferred EURO!! So we didn’t have much choice but to find a local bank to exchange some currencies.

Oh, and we also experienced the “other” side of the Mauritius hospitality. It was our first day of tour and we were in this Sugar Museum. As part of the tour, we got to do some sugar and rum tasting. After tantalizing our tastebuds, we thought of buying a packet of molasses for keeping. Since it was in Mauritius Rupee, we asked if we could pay in USD. “Sure” , the lady said. “At the conversion rate of 1 USD to 24 Mauritius Rupees and any balance will be returned in Rupees.”
After paying the amount, I realized she shortchanged us of 4 Mauritius Rupees. So I asked her about the shortchanged amount. She replied nonchalantly that she didn’t have 4 Mauritius Rupees with her – despite having two cashiers at the counter!?! I was shocked! I told her this is ridiculous and I cannot accept her reasoning. She went around asking her mates and in the end, came back with 4 Mauritius Rupees for me. Now, I dont know how else to see this, except that she had the audacity to cheat unsuspecting tourists. But this didn't just end here. When we exchanged our USDs in the local bank the next day, we were told that the conversion rate was 1 USD to 31 Mauritius Rupees...!! Aaargh!! Can you believe that? So, if anyone of you is planning to visit the Sugar Museum, please take heed of our sharing here.

Anyway, on a cheery side, the places we saw were beautiful and interesting, like:

Here's The Pamplemousses - the botanical gardens. There were many interesting trees there but just thought of showing this one. This is the oldest balboa oak tree in the garden. The tour guide said, slaves used to hide themselves in the tree in the old days... interesting...

Hubby and I by the water lily pond. Yup, it was a very hot and sunny day....

The water lily is white in the morning, turns pink in the noon and purple in the evening before dying. Apparently, they only live for 24 hours. The cute part about this, is that tourists used to throw "coins" onto the lily's big wide leave to make a wish. But since the coins damaged the leaves, tourists are encouraged to throw "notes" now.... hmmn.....

The front view of the Sugar Museum. The museum was renovated from an old sugar factory. this was like a study-tour, you know... learning about sugar making, history of the island, looking at charts, etc

Here's one of the many photos we took inside the sugar museum. The above is to crystalize sugar.

The many types of sugar.......

Lunch @ Jet Ranch. This place is opened during hunting season. And if you look closely, the deer heads on the walls are real!

The grand lake called Grand Basin where Hindu devotees bath themselves every year.

Rum tasting - here's where the finest rum is produced. We had a taste... yummy!!

One of the stops in the nature park. Here is the 2nd highest point of the island, where the view on the mountains and valleys are excellent!

Hubby against the beautiful skies and mountains....

the waterfalls....

the famous 7 coloured-earth. Hubby took this photo. I was busy with err, .... ice-cream at that time.

Here's where we lazed around on our last day - under the trees, by the beach. Me with Jeffrey Archer book, hubby with his John Maxwell book (so spiritual...)

Mauritius - La Plantations

Dear hubby and I were in Mauritius last month. The trip was planned earlier last year. When we managed to hunt down the agency during the MATTA Fair, we thought that we had a good deal. However, given the current economic situation, the trip was actually pretty luxurious. We spent almost MYR9k for 5 days-3 nights for the both of us, which included accommodation, flight and ground tours.

The place we stayed was called La Plantations. It’s situated up north of the island, (erm, I’ve forgotten what’s the place called) about an hour’s drive from the airport and amidst wide lands covered with sugar canes. There were no long white sandy beaches in this hotel, but what they lack, they made it up with a beautiful and serene lake. Hubby and I spent many wonderful evenings sitting by the lake, enjoying each other’s company.

Here’s a take at the hotel lobby, room and some beach and lake sceneries.
